Classification and Quantification of Danmaku Interactions in Online Video Lectures: An Exploratory Study

Danmaku is an important means of interaction in online education, providing a learning atmosphere collaboration with peers. Nowadays, there have been more studies on interaction. However, are still some shortcomings the existing literature for classifying and quantifying content interactions. Semi-structured interviews were conducted 35 informants to identify learner-content that met learners’ functional needs learner-learner interactions social, hedonic, emotional needs. Using analysis two video lectures, we found accounted one-third both. More occurred lecture declarative knowledge (in which instructors encouraged learners practice) than procedural followed fixed steps). Learner-instructor was also identified—especially when had specific personal characteristics. Learner-interface evident—especially lectures quality issues. Since learner-instructor communication only one-way (no response from instructors), it not perceived by learners, indicating desire satisfied Danmaku. The results study can provide teachers creators advice related course production help teaching faculty recognize importance one-to-many interactive language learners.
